Winter Sanctuary

Living Room

This year, its more important than ever to make our homes a little spot of serenity. With COVID-19 forcing us to spend more time in our own homes we know how quickly cabin fever can set in and mental health can be effected so we created this little tips & tricks guide to help you create a space where you feel at peace.

Country Style Living Room

Tip #1:

Natural Materials

Natural materials are a super simple way to add warmth and create a more inviting space. Woods, leathers, and woven textiles are all easily added to a room as accent pieces and can be incorporated year-round and fit in with any styling. The natural hues of these materials accentuate warmth effortlessly, making the space feel more intimate and cosier.

Tip #2:

Muted Colour Palettes

Cozy Living Room

When creating a peaceful space, look no further than a muted colour palette. These palettes lend themselves to most styles, and the warm whites and neutral tones can transition seamlessly through the seasons.
Already have muted palette walls? Swap out textiles to match the winter palette and reflect the seasons calming tones, whilst picking out pieces with subtle details to add depth. No detail is too small!

Tip #3:

Swap Out Lightweight Materials

During the summer lightweight materials are great for keeping us cooler and creating a light, airy ambiance. Not ideal for the winter months. So, swap out those linens and lightweight textiles for something a little weightier. Woven materials are great for this. Layer mixed patterns to refresh a room with a thoughtful, curated look.

Tip #4:

Design For Function

Home Desk

With the increased time spent at home, the functionality of a space is vital in creating a synergistic space. Whether you’re working from home or home-schooling the kids, its important that the space is optimized for stress free operations. Simple changes like additional storage solutions, such as baskets, not only offer more functionality they help bring in the natural hues and depth mentioned in Tip #1.

Tip #5:

Shapes &
Silhouettes

Playing with furniture shapes is a great way to create a more informal vibe in a space. Long legged furniture lends itself to more formal styles, so incorporating some more full pieces, such as footstools, that go all the way to the floor help created a more grounded and relaxed feeling.

Tip #6:

Create Moments

Finishing touches are the make or break moment in creating a memorable space. You will hear us say often that a rooms memorability relies heavily on the moments created. Imagine each section of your room as a vignette (small, close-up section) and stylize accordingly. Sometimes all it takes is a well-placed candle, or stylized books to create that desired cosy feeling.
