Beautify Your Bed

Here at Wilson & Co, we know that it’s the little details that make the most significant differences in styling, especially with bedding. From throws to extra pillows, over the years we’ve found that the bedding should portray luxury whilst remaining beautiful, simple, practical, and most importantly comfortable.
Below we go over five styling tips to help you create the perfect bedding arrangement for your space.

Base Layer:
Layer Soft Sheets & Throws
The first thing we must do when making a bed is make a comfortable base. This can be done by adding crisp, soft sheets of a high cotton count to give that added luxurious, high end hotel-like feel, before adding the home comforts of a throw or thin quilt to add depth in texture and warmth.
Mid Layers:
Duvets & Quilts

Next, the duvet or quilt elevates the comfort levels, whilst providing the main warmth and fullness to the bed. Whilst there are exceptions, quilts are generally more suited to bedrooms with a casual feel or those with a country cottage decorating style. A duvet would be a better choice for a more contemporary or formal feel for the bedroom. Or for a stylish blend, or people who really like to snuggle down, a mixture of the two can create a cosy interchangeable bed spread for those colder winter months.
These both come with a variety of fillings, but our go-to for ultimate luxury is a natural fibre down duvet. This provides a cloud like fullness and having the optimum heat retaining properties.

Pillows:
Main Pillows & Shams
When it comes to pillows, we know how tricky it can be to get the right pillows for comfort and the best night sleep, as well as retaining their shape for the beautiful aesthetic for those Instagram posts. Our teams go-to again are natural fibre down pillows. These pillows are durable and super comfortable and have a great “plumpability” and can shaped for any style of bed. Prefer a harder pillow? Use these harder memory foam pillows as your base and have a down pillow as your top to help create a soft aesthetic.
And for those lazy weekends & breakfast in bed kind of days, you should look no further than a stylish sham. Not only will these provide support when sitting in bed, but these beautiful facades (although can be slept on) can be set aside overnight and be used to hide your sleeping pillows and help keep your bed looking fresher for longer.
Pillows:
Scatter Cushions

This is where we can add personality and an element of fun to the bed spread. Whether you decide to go for a stacked pyramid or just a simple lumbar approach, adding scatter cushions brings depth and dimension to any bedding by adding texture, colour and pattern.

Top Layer:
Throws
No luxurious bedspread would be complete without a throw. Place one as a runner at the base of your beautifully designed bed to add that final hint of texture or splash of colour. Plus, there is always the added bonus of it being on hand for those particularly cold nights, or post walk naps!
